Anzac day is celebrated on the 25th of April, because that was the day that the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) landed in Gallipoli in 1915. The
25th of April was officially named ANZAC Day in 1916.
It was the start of a war, that lasted 8 months. 25,000 Australian people enlisted and from those, 8,700 were killed in action or died of wounds or from disease.
Those men who served on the Gallipoli Peninsula, created a legend. The word ‘ANZAC’ was added to our vocabulary and created the ANZAC spirit, that we celebrate today.
